Siddharth is a second-year Chemical Engineering PhD student working on developing a domestic natural rubber (latex) platform at the intersection of materials science, plant biochemistry, and chemical engineering. This broadly involves latex extraction and the creation of novel latex-algae biocomposites (read more here). He is co-advised by Prof. Chiara Daraio.
Prior to coming to Caltech, Siddharth completed his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, where he conducted research with Prof. Ben Hackel. He also worked on a summer research project at Northwestern University under the guidance of Prof. John Rogers.
Outside of research, Siddharth serves as President of the Student Leadership Council for the NSF Engineering Research Center (ERC) affiliated with his research. You'll also find him on the soccer field, tennis or squash courts, scaling climbing walls at The Post, or catching the latest blockbuster at the closest AMC.
